Caring for a family member living with dementia is incredibly challenging, and there may come a time…
Welcome to Kirby Grange Care Home
Welcome to Kirby Grange Care Home
Kirby Grange is a family-run residential and dementia care home for a number of residents on the edge of Botcheston, a quiet village in the Leicestershire countryside five miles west of Leicester. Set in its own grounds with open views across the fields, the home offers residential care, specialist dementia care, respite stays and care for couples in a calm, unhurried setting.

When you choose Kirby Grange as your new home, you’ll join a family of up to 27 residents enjoying outstanding, personalised care in the peaceful Leicestershire countryside. It’s part of Heartlands Care, a family-owned group that has run care homes since 1997.
On the edge of the village of Botcheston, five miles from Leicester, we’re the perfect choice if you’re looking for residential or dementia care that enhances quality of life and boosts wellbeing. We’re the ideal choice if you’re looking for nursing, dementia or residential care that enhances quality of life and boosts wellbeing.
Our senior carers, care assistants, activities coordinator, chefs and housekeepers work as one team, so residents see the same familiar faces every day. Staff are on duty 24 hours a day and the whole team is trained in dementia care. We work closely with local GP practices, district nurses and the community mental health team, and visiting chiropodists, hairdressers, dentists and opticians call regularly. As a family-run home we keep visiting flexible: family and friends are welcome at any time and are invited to join residents for meals and events.
Days at Kirby Grange are shaped around what residents enjoy including music, gentle exercise, gardening, baking, quizzes, crafts, trips out into the Leicestershire countryside and visits from local schools, churches and entertainers. Our activities coordinator plans a programme for every ability, including sensory and one-to-one sessions for residents living with dementia. Meals are cooked fresh on site and residents help shape the menus.
No two residents arrive at Kirby Grange in the same way. Some come for a two-week respite stay to recover after a hospital visit or to give a family carer a rest, and decide to stay. Couples can move in together, each with their own care plan, so one partner’s growing needs never mean separating the two.
Care plans are reviewed continuously, not on a fixed schedule, and because we are a small home the team notices small changes early. If a resident’s needs go beyond what residential care can safely provide, we work with the family, the GP and, where needed, Heartlands Care’s nursing homes to plan the next step together, with no pressure and no surprises.
