Caring for a family member living with dementia is incredibly challenging, and there may come a time…
Welcome to Holmer Manor
Welcome to Holmer Manor
Holmer Manor is a nursing, dementia and residential care home for up to 39 people in the village of Holmer, on the northern edge of Hereford. The home is a Victorian rectory beside the ancient Church of St Bartholomew, with high ceilings, grand windows and traditional fireplaces, extended with purpose-built rooms and modern heating and telecommunications throughout.

Registered nurses are on duty 24 hours a day, and our team supports up to 39 residents living with dementia, people with nursing needs and people who simply need more help day to day. We also offer respite, day care and palliative care in our Herefordshire home.
Holmer Manor is one of six homes in Heartlands Care, a family-run group caring for people since 1997. We welcome families from Hereford, Leominster, Bromyard, Ledbury, Kington, across Herefordshire and beyond.
Holmer Manor is a beautiful Victorian rectory with modern extensions, set next to Holmer’s ancient parish church. We have kept the rectory’s original features, from the high ceilings and grand windows to the traditional fireplaces, and added high-specification heating and telecommunications throughout.
Inside there are two spacious dining rooms, three homely lounges and a hairdressing room, with space for visiting physiotherapists, dentists, opticians and GPs. Bedrooms are spacious and well appointed, and most have en-suite bathrooms. Our couples rooms have a double bed or twin beds. Outside, our gardens are secure and wheelchair accessible, so residents can relax, take some exercise or enjoy fresh air whenever they wish.
Our in-house chefs, led by our Head Chef, cook fresh, nutritious meals every day, with snacks and drinks available around the clock. Every meal has at least two choices, and if neither appeals we are happy to prepare something else. Specialist diets are part of each resident’s care plan, and our team supports anyone who finds eating or drinking difficult.
A typical day starts with a continental or cooked breakfast made to order. Lunch brings meat, fish and vegetarian dishes with seasonal sides, followed by homemade sandwiches and cakes in the afternoon and a lighter or heartier dinner in the evening, with hot drinks and a bedtime snack if wanted.
We care for the whole person, mind, body and spirit, and families often see real improvements once their loved one joins us, from better mobility to a healthier weight and a renewed enjoyment of life. Our Activities Coordinators build the programme around each resident’s interests, and staff and visitors are encouraged to join in.
We support residents to practise their faith, with visits from vicars and other faith leaders and transport to places of worship. Our Dignity Champions make sure every resident’s dignity is protected in everything we do.

“The entire staff of carers and nurses have been outstanding. They have treated mum with utmost respect, care and kindness. “
Holmer Manor provides permanent residential care, specialist dementia care, respite care, emergency respite care, day care, and couples care. Because we are registered for nursing, residents can stay with us if their needs increase.
